available from
La Leche League GB
Breastfeeding Training Programmes
La Leche League GB offers progressive breastfeeding training modules to provide the appropriate level of understanding for staff, from receptionists to health care professionals.
Foundation
A one day course combining fun and facts for all staff who have contact with mothers.
Beyond the Basics
Building on the Foundation course, an additional two days to expand knowledge.
The Peer Counsellor Programme
The Peer Counsellor Administrator course of five days can be a combination of Foundation, Beyond the Basics and these two days, or a dedicated five day course.
Aims of La Leche League’s Course
• to increase the incidence and duration of breastfeeding
•to increase the knowledge of how breastfeeding meets both the nutritional and emotional needs of babies
•to enable women to breastfeed their babies for as long as they want
