LLLGB PCP Administrator Training

The LLLGB PCP Administrator training consists of ten modules over five full days (these five days are not usually consecutive).
This training will fully prepare health professionals* for running programmes and training Peer Counsellors in their area. Here, the defnition of a 'health professional' is someone employed and working within the target area and in a position to work with and deliver this programme. Their employer could be Sure Start, PCT, PCG, HAZ, Health Board or some other funder. The participants will become thoroughly familiar with all aspects of the curriculum*, how to teach it and how to support the Peer Counsellors. It is expected that the Administrator Training will be closely followed by implementation of the LLLGB Breastfeeding Peer Counsellor programme.
A key part of the programme package ensures support for the trained Administrators with a series of support visits over the course of the programme.
* In the LLLGB PCP evaluation the Baby Friendly Initiative Standards and NICE guidelines were used as bench marks for the programme curriculum. This identified that the information given to LLLGB-trained Peer Counsellors was in line with nationally recognised standards. The programme was also shown to be assisting in achieving the five key outcomes laid down in the Every Child Matters initiative (Department for Education and Skills 2004).
